Like heavy rain after a drought, the mad month of May kicks off the Tough Mudder event season in style every year. After months of waiting and pining, four event weekends in a row gave us all of the action, drama and celebration we could have asked for.
Did you party with us at Tough Mudder 5K? Get down and dirty on a Tough Mudder weekend? Or push yourself to the limit at Europe’s Toughest Mudder? This countdown is dedicated to you, thanks for making more May memories with us Mudder Nation.
1. 50,000 Mudders across 6 events
That’s right – across May 50,000 Mudders donned their trainers and tackled obstacles in the name of teamwork, camaraderie and challenge. From Tough Mudder 5K – Bristol, all the way to Europe’s Toughest Mudder there was something for everyone this month.
And that’s only in Europe. Across the globe we also saw multiple event weekends in the US and the first ever Regional Toughest Mudder in Australia. Mudders you SHOWED UP worldwide this month.
2. Old School Obstacles Made a Comeback
Back in January we revealed that The Vault, Tough Mudder’s top-secret obstacle archive had been opened and that obstcales from years-gone-by would be returning in 2018.
In May we witnessed the triumphant return of Cage Crawl, Boa Constrictor and King of the Mountain, giving old Mudder favourites a new lease of life.
3. Epic Finish Line Moments
The finish line at any Tough Mudder event is a magical place, full of happy Mudders achieving great things. But in May there were a few extra special celebrations.
Tough Mudder Ambassador and dedicated Legionnaire Chris James acheived his 75X headband, after being the first person in Europe to be awarded the 50X headband it’s clear that Chris has no plans to slow down and we can’t wait to see what he goes on to acheive this year.
We may have been celebrating one special wedding in particular last weekend but this month the finish line witnessed the beginning of more than one journey to marital bliss. Congratulations to the two couples who got engaged in May, and thanks for making us part of your day.
4. The Race Series Got Interesting
The inaugural Europe’s Toughest Mudder last year was a real spectacle, but this year with a mix of last year’s competitors and Tougher Mudder regulars who would win was anyone’s guess.
And with the first ever Australia’s Toughest Mudder taking place as well, World’s Toughest Mudder is set to be an incredible competition with some brand new faces in the mix.
5. Jessie Graff Paid a Visit
If you were at London West weekend 2 you may have been luckily enough to witness professional stunt woman and Ninja Warrior Jessie Graff taking on obstacles in her own unique way.
